What are your favorite "hidden gems" at Walt Disney World?

Heigh-ho everyone! We are working on a series of podcast episodes about hidden gems at Walt Disney World and we need your help. What are your favorite hidden gems in the parks, resorts, dining locations and other spots around Disney World?

A few things to help guide the conversation:

  • Instead of mentioning a restaurant, snack or bar location that is a hidden gem, let us know what menu item is your favorite hidden gem
  • You can share as many hidden gems as you like, but also include a little bit about why you love it for those who don’t know about it
  • Make each hidden gem you suggest its own individual reply to this topic – this way people can like each “gem” independently and we can easily see which are the most popular
  • Be sure to give a like to the hidden gems you agree with and if you have the same suggestion, share your comments as a reply to the original suggestion instead of starting a new post

We can’t wait to hear your suggestions!

I’ve only seen it one time, but I think one of the hidden gems is catching the Electric Water Pageant. Something about it traveling across the Seven Seas Lagoon just screams MAGIC to me!

Our family loves the Thai coconut meatballs at Capt. Cooks at the Polynesian. They are savory and sweet and match perfectly with the Polynesian resort vibe. I just need to find a copycat recipe!

Not sure how “hidden” this one is - the Tropical Serenade at Aloha Isle in Adventureland is a favorite. The coconut Dole whip with POG juice is a perfect tropical pairing. We have enjoyed these while waiting for the Tiki room or watching the starlight parade. It is a perfect combination for the hot Florida weather!

The plant-based modified Phantom Galaxy Beet Salad at Space 220 Lounge. This is “hidden” because they don’t advertise that you can order things from the Space 220 Restaurant prix fixe menu when you’re at the lounge, and the plant-based version is not on any menu. This is a “gem” because the vegan cheese that this comes with is literally out of this world!

I agree. It is absolutely one of my favorite treats in MK! I just don’t care for cake pops :joy:

Another hidden gem related to @Bryanne_Colvin ‘s Aloha Isle suggestion, is that the cast members have no problem with you bringing your Dole Whip into the Enchanted Tiki Lounge show. It suddenly feels like dinner theatre when you do that, which is so appropriate!

Not sure if this counts as hidden gem, but I recently did the Epcot World Showcase Passport Book. It is an activity you purchase from Creations (and other stores around Epcot) for about $20. It is a passport that has blank pages, stickers, and a button pin. You take the book to each country in world showcase and a cast member from that country signs, dates, stamps, and draws a cute little doodle on it. It encourages you to go inside and visit each country and talk to someone from that country! I had so many wonderful conversation and met a lot of cool cast members.

The champagne bar at Les Vins de France in EPCOT. I don’t know where else in the world you can select from a variety of vintage champagnes by the glass. The pours are very generous, and you can stroll freely around the France pavilion with champagne in hand.

I would try this in a heartbeet!

For Sparkling Wine lovers: Everyone goes to France for the Champagne bar, which is amazing if you really want actual champagne and want to pay for it and stand in a very long line. BUT if you just want a very good sparkling wine and no wait, check out the wine bar in the German pavilion! It has a very delicious brut sparkling wine!

Fun Sunset view: Not a hidden gem per se, but we lucked out with a sunset LL time for Tower of Terror, and had an amazing sunset view surprise during the ride! We will always try and get the same time from now on.

Pixie dusting for kids: Maybe everyone knows about this, but we had fun stopping by Sir Mickey’s to ask the cashier for a “pixie dusting” to make the trip extra magical!

Searching for Hidden Mickeys on Living with the Land. There are SO MANY and they are so unique!

Pick a Pearl experience in the Japan pavilion at Epcot. They make it such a fun experience overall and my kids were giddy about it. Also, they will always remember how to count to three in Japanese!

Pirate scavengers hunt in Magic Kingdom (A Pirates Adventure) or bounty hunting in Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios. Such a great (free) way to fill some down time between Lightning lanes!

Agree…any ride becomes way better with sunset. I ended Rise of Resistance right at sunset in the hazy orange and didn’t realize I was outside. I thought I was still on another planet. Florida sunsets are magical.

I actually want to try to time the monorail &/or Skyliner right at sunset and see the lights of Disney turn on.
