My family of 6 are heading to Disney July 5-11th, and we were wondering if there were any suggestions on which days of the week are best for which parks?
That’s going to be a great time to visit post July 4 crowds! Rob and Ear Scouts crew explained recently in a podcast how to look at the likely crowds by park by looking at the relative cost of lightening lane multipass on each day. Listen to their 2/26 episode “15 Biggest Lightening Lane Mistakes PLUS Is This the Secret to Predicting Crowd Size.” Also, there is some data out there from Thrill Data and others that suggest specific parks for specific days, but Rob’s point is that Disney knows their own crowds the best, and the Lightening Lanes MP system is priced accordingly!
Thank you so much! Do you mean that the cheaper the Lightning Lane, the better the day to visit because of a smaller crowd?
Yes, that’s exactly the sign you’re looking for – i.e. you see MK pricing at $29, $32, and $35 on different days; the $29 price point should theoretically indicate Disney thinks this is the less crowded day!
There are all kinds of ways to guess about park days to visit - but Sarah is correct the LL cost is one of the best - just because Disney knows how many people they are expecting. BUT you may see the LL cost for all 4 parks is lower on a certain day - Here are the things I look for
1- After Hour Events - MORE people in park at night but sometimes if you are a morning person this means lower morning crowds
2- Extended Evening Hours - very little change in crowds but if you happen to be staying at a deluxe resort - good option to visit this park.
3- Park Hours (look at any odd closing times) - Epcot and HS can have corporate buy outs - so always look at this - don’t be caught off guard.
4 - Parade times (MK) - the starlight night time parade can have 2 showings some nights and this can make a difference in when you want to be there.
There is always a 5 day calendar on the WDW website - if you look at the above 4 things and pick WHICH day works for you at MK then go around that.
