Very overwhelmed with the LLs and lack of options

I am going to WDW next week with my granddaughter for her 7th birthday (first time for both of us). We are only at MK on the 8th. Flying out and back so this is my only option. We are staying on property and fortunately MK is late hours that day. BUT because its spring break, premier LL was sold out as were TRON and 7 Dwarfs. I was able to get multipass but not much available at early times.

So now, i’m worried we are going to spend so much time walking back and forth, chasing our LL times. Is there a strategy to use? I did sign up for Standby Skipper. Any help or advise is really appreciated. I feel like I will be dragging her all over just to ensure she gets to ride everything. She loves rides, and while characters are great, we have done a few cruises so she’s ok with skipping some of that.

The best advice is typically to make a list of the things you want to ride the most and prioritise those. Don’t aim to ride everything, because chances are you won’t even want to. I’m sure you will have a great day regardless.

You have early entry so make the most of that and you’ll likely be able to get 7 Dwarfs and Tron (if she’s tall enough) done. Something to bare in mind is you actually get a 3 hour window per lightning lane, so that should reduce the jumping about somewhat.

Have a look at these two videos that Rob did for MK, they’re from 2025 but still fairly relevant:

should we rope drop 7 dwarfs or go to Buzzlightyear since that is opening 4/8? Honest opinion please.

Depends which ride you think is better. They’re both likely to have long waits, in my opinion go for 7 Dwarfs because I think it’s the better ride. You could also snag a lightning lane for Buzz if you keep at it.

Are you specifically asking which ride to Rope Drop? And you will do the other later? I might consider Rope Dropping 7D and trying for LL for Buzz. You can use the play the slots strategy for Buzz. Please note, a TON of people will be heading for 7D first thing - so get there before the park opens, scan in, line up to the right of the castle, and be ready to hustle.

If you are asking which one to ride at all - 7D is cute, but quite short. It is a fun, mild coaster. Buzz is a longer shooting game experience. I would lean towards Buzz because I feel like you would get more bang for your buck. You can’t go wrong with either.

Hey - first OFF - HAVE FUN!!! Remember the day is not all about the rides!

IF your 7 year old loves video games or Toy Story - I would start with Buzz if you didn’t get it as a LL.
If they aren’t and you think a roller coaster experience is more important start with 7D and then hopefully Buzz will come available.

Even on busy days - if you have patience LL do pop back up especially for just 2 people.

I have talked multiple times to use a combination of standby and LL and try to limit criss crossing the park. We usually set a pre-described limit of 40 min and as long as a line is less than that - we will stand in it - that gives us time to play the slots for other lightening lanes - talk with our family - have a water and in many cases be in shade.

I really would focus on doing one land at a time and using one longer line to play the slots for the other rides.

As others have shown - Rob has a lot of great videos out there for you to watch!

Good luck and Happy Birthday to your granddaughter!
