I have heard Rob talk about ‘burner’ attractions and I know they did a podcast episode where it was mentioned what attractions they identified for that category- do you all remember what they are for each park? Particularly AK and EP THANK YOU!!!
The point of the burner ride is to get something as early as possible in the day so you can scan in and unlock booking/modifying to additional tier 1 attractions or attractions at other parks if you’re park hopping.
At Epcot this is usually Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival, but if you find something else that’s available early then go for it. It’s nice when your “burner” turns out to be something you wanted to do anyway. If it’s Pixar, I suggest scanning but not watching it. It’s a long show and you’ll be missing out on the opportunity to take advantage of short queues that you typically get first thing in the morning if you’re sitting in a show.
At Animal Kingdom you don’t really need a burner in my opinion unless you plan to park hop, in which case scanning in as early as possible is really advantageous since it’s probably also going to be before the other parks are open. The lightning lanes most likely to be available early are Dinosaur and, perhaps surprisingly, Expedition Everest.
At Magic Kingdom it might be Philharmagic, Dumbo, Magic Carpets of Aladdin. Try to choose something that’s close to where you want to be for your previous or next ride.
